D.E.A.R. - Drop Everything and Read

All the teachers knew that something really promising comes through this school trainer. I first got to know about the term DEAR - Drop Everything and Read in one of our school's TPD (teacher professional development) sessions. The trainer introduced the idea of DEAR as something which makes the whole school community literally drop everything and read the book that they would genuinely enjoy reading. Since then, I have committed myself to reading books, just to fight the digital spam to which even I might be addicted.
DROP - Drop Everything and Read

In the age of disruption, attention economy, and digital spam bombardment, the young minds would really need therapeutic approach in calming their minds, here by simply getting them immersed in the plane paper with more text and few graphics. While educators and researchers have been suggesting the positive effects of reading the physical paper (and turning the pages after reading accomplishments), DEAR offers something that can be viewed as habit formation project.

DEAR project when placed in tandem with other transformative pedagogical projects (for example - debate club, book talk session, or writing club) can offer students with the sustainable realization that physical world is more real and less fake, which could not be guaranteed in the digital world.

While the DEAR projects have started in the American settings, this promising idea has already spanned across the schools (and at homes) around the world.
